Carlow and Wicklow

Sitting in a pub outside Wicklow watching the Easter Thursday traffic flow (or almost) from Dublin heading south - very slowly!

Have spent Avery lazy couple of days in the southwest corner of Ireland.  Very green and picturesque. We turned off the highway to lunch at Ballypatrick yesterday, thinking we would have a quaint little village to soak up some rural Irish ambience.  Turned out to be a boring collection of farmhouses and nothing else!  So much for charm and ambience.

Today we have travelled about 100kms from Carlow where we freecamped outside the Garda (Police) station.  A pleasant town which we expected to be small, but it turned out to be a university town with a big Tesco supermarket and all the amenities required to cope with a large student population.

We bypassed Arklow today on our way to Wicklow, but we will call in there tomorrow when we go back south again to get to Wexford where we will get the ferry back to Milford Haven in south Wales.  We are crossing on Saturday morning when we hope to miss the Easter rush.

We are experiencingbwhat the locals call good weather, although we have not actually seen the sun today.  At least it is not windy or raining!

Looking forward to catching up with our old friend Joyce at Torquay in a couple of days.

Back to the booze - it is the price we pay for an overnight stay at a pub. :-)

Keep well till next time.
